Here are some fried cod recipes you can try out. While the cooking process is the same, adding different ingredients will give it unique flavors.

Cod with Egg Yolk

Ingredients

Oil
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup plus 2 tbsp flour
1 ½ lbs of cod fillets (an inch thick)
Pepper and salt
An egg yolk
2 tbsp peanut oil
A cup of cold water

Directions

Slice the fillets in a dozen pieces of equal size. Get another bowl and mix the egg yolk, oil and water. Add the flour, pepper and salt. Whisk the mixture until they are smooth. Put the baking powder and blend it. Put the oil in a frying pan. Put the cod in the batter. Add the cod pieces one at a time.

Cook the fillets for a couple of minutes until they become gold brown. Place the fillets in a paper towels after cooking. This fried cod recipe is usually served with the horseradish sauce.

Cod with Jalapeno

Ingredients

1 lb cod fillets, sliced into chunks
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes (keep the juice)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
2 fresh jalapeno peppers, diced and seeded
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon cardamom
2 teaspoons coriander
2 teaspoons cumin
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Directions

Set the frying pan at medium heat. Put the onion in and lower the heat. Cook for 15 minutes. Combine the ginger paste and garlic paste in the frying pan. Cook for 60 seconds. Add in the salt, turmeric, cardamom, coriander and cumin. Add the tomatoes, lemon juice, cilantro and jalapeno.

Scrape the bits from the pan. After bringing this to a boil, set the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 20 minutes. If you prefer, put the sauce aside for a few hours so the flavors will come together some more. Bring the sauce back to a boil.

Put the fillets in the pan. Set the heat to low. Cook this for 15 minutes. When the fish fillets flake with the fork, it is cooked. Note: the cooking time of these dishes will vary depending the fillet size. The larger the fillet size, the longer it will take to cook the fish.

When you make fried cod recipes, make sure the skillet is of the right size. Do not put too many fillets in the frying pan. Doing so may have an adverse effect on the result.
